Family Constellation is an experience that cannot be explained in words.
It helps you connect to your roots; your parents, grandparents and generations before them.
Bert Hellinger, father of FC, says that any challenges faced in your current life arise from your roots itself. Family Constellation therapy allows you to connect with the entanglements at this source and heal them.
It can be done in individual sessions and Systemic group sessions.
This approach was developed by German psychotherapist Bert Hellinger in the mid-1990s. Family constellations therapy evolved out of his work as a family therapist and his belief in the energy, both positive and negative, found in familial bonds. Nearly 50 years of studying and treating families led to his observation of patterns of mental health concerns, illness, negative emotions, and potentially destructive behaviors within families, and he suggested individuals might unconsciously "adopt" these concerns as a way of helping other members to cope. Proponents of family constellations believe the method to be less restrictive than other methods of therapy and support its capacity to allow people to see different perspectives and alternate solutions.
Family constellation therapy is a therapeutic intervention that a therapist might use in order to gain insight and information into a client’s family history, dynamics, and possible dysfunctional patterns. German therapist Bert Hellinger developed this intervention. When utilizing the family constellation, the therapist has people who are not related to the client take on roles of various family members to act out dynamics related to the client’s concerns. The therapist directs the family members’ posture, position, and words, although sometimes the activity involves minimal talking. The client might interact directly with their relatives in the constellation or stand aside and watch the interactions unfold.
There is a learning and insight for each person, no matter the role.
